McCune Law Group Announces Press Conference on Alleged Civil Rights and Employment Violations in San Bernardino County

McCune Law Group (MLG) has conducted a conference to address serious allegations of civil rights violations, discrimination, and public policy misconduct involving San Bernardino County and one of its former employees. The firm has filed two separate lawsuits on behalf of Nicholas Diaz and his family, alleging wrongful arrest, violations of due process, and discriminatory employment practices that resulted in the loss of his job and significant harm to his family. The press conference took place on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. PST at McCune Law Group’s Ontario, California office. Members of the press and the public were invited to attend in person to hear directly from legal counsel about the allegations and the broader implications for civil rights and workplace protections.

Allegations of Wrongful Arrest and Civil Rights Violations. According to the civil rights complaint, Mr. Diaz was arrested in November 2024 under circumstances his attorneys allege were based on false pretenses and unsupported by probable cause. The lawsuit claims that a warrant was improperly issued following activity on an online adult platform, ultimately leading to Mr. Diaz’s wrongful imprisonment despite no criminal charges ever being filed. In a press release written by McCune Law Group, the complaint further alleges that Mr. Diaz’s two young adopted sons were present during a law enforcement raid of their home and were subjected to mistreatment. One child was allegedly denied necessary medical care during the incident. Mr. Diaz and his attorneys contend that these actions caused severe emotional trauma and lasting psychological harm to the entire family. In addition to the arrest itself, the lawsuit alleges that San Bernardino County disseminated false and damaging information to the media. Mr. Diaz has since taken steps to correct the public record, asserting that these statements contributed to reputational damage, public humiliation, and prolonged separation from his children. 

Employment Lawsuit Alleges Discrimination and Constructive Termination . The second lawsuit centers on Mr. Diaz’s employment with San Bernardino County, where he worked as an Office Specialist III in the Department of Behavioral Health. The complaint alleges that following his arrest—despite the absence of criminal charges—County representatives pressured Mr. Diaz to resign rather than allowing him to remain employed while the matter was reviewed. According to the lawsuit, County officials suggested that asserting his employment rights could result in negative consequences. Mr. Diaz ultimately resigned under circumstances he contends amount to constructive termination under California law. The complaint further alleges that these actions were motivated, at least in part, by discrimination based on sex, gender, and sexual orientation, in violation of the California Fair Employment and Housing Act.

The lawsuits maintain that a neutral, evidence-based review would have cleared Mr. Diaz and prevented much of the harm he and his family endured.
